where it all began
Community Baptist Church began in 1897 when a man named Charles Rust visited Silver Lake in a special train car, a rolling chapel called "Glad Tidings", and started teaching the Bible. Over a few months regular gatherers heard and believed the good news ('glad tidings') that Jesus could forgive their sins and make them children of God. Desiring to worship and serve Him intentionally, they formed the Silver Lake Baptist Church in May of 1897. Today we are known as Community Baptist Church. And we still proclaim the same 'glad tidings' that Jesus will forgive you and make you His own when you repent and believe.
